I've heard that in the region of mnt. Elbrus it is not very safe at the moment. So my
question is how safe is it. what can I expect there...???

Comments:
Elbrus region is as safe as other normal region of Russia. I mean there are no no specific
Chechen problems like kidnapping, but ordinary crimes like theft do exist. Look at http://www.elbrus.org for more info on Elbrus.

I am an a fairly experienced rock-climber (about 5.11a) and was wondering if you have more
technically chalanging tours (so that one might go through routes on the way
up).
Please, reply to dimitrii
Thanks.
Answer from Pilgrim Tours:
We do not provide such tours on a regular basis. Technical tours must be customized.
In that case we are able to provide almost everything you need.

Is this possible to receive board region permit in this year. I'he heard, that it
isn't possible in this year for foreign persons
Please reply to nygus
Answer from Pilgrim Tours:
Generally foreigners never receive border zone permit themselves. Somebody must go to
Nalchik to do it and there must be a name of a guide mentioned in your permit papers.
That's why it is actually impossible for independent travelers. For a tourist company
there is no any problem to obtain this permit for their clients, just send a
representative to the border guard office.

Will a visa be granted if I wish to enter Russia from the Georgian side, and if so,
how long will I be allowed to spend climbing in the Caucasus?
Answer from Pilgrim Tours:
Visa is an entry ticket, you can enter through any door. But it must be a door. I mean
a border guard post not just a mountain range. You can stay as many days as you have
written on your visa. You can find official visa information on http://www.russianembassy.org/ Also have a
look at our web site page "Visa" http://www.pilgrimtours.org/eng/russia/visas.htm/

Hello, we wondered if besides of taking the standard trip, we could stay a bit longer in
so called "KavMinVod" towns. Are those places safe from Chechens, and can you
arrange accomodation and tours? By the way, do you have any recent Swedish tourists
coming? And one more question: we've found a flight Munich-Mineral Vody, operated by
Russians. Can you arrange tickets for this flight, and what it'd cost? Thank you. You may
reply to this message board and/or galembonat
Answer from Pilgrim Tours:
KavMinVody area (resorts) is pretty safe, but we do not provide accommodation there.
Munich-Mineral Vody flight is a charter flight, we do not provide tickets for this
direction as well as for other international flights.
